These QR code math dice provide a great opportunity for students to use technology in the classroom. This is an engaging tool for students to practice using their addition and subtraction strategies. Each dice has 6 QR codes on them that lead to an addition or subtraction equation within 20. Each QR code has an easy equation and a challenging one. To assemble the dice, cut along the perimeter of the dice template. Fold along the black lines in between the QR codes and fold along the black lines between the gray flap and the outside QR codes. Fold the sides to make a cube and tape the dice together.
After the dice are assembled, students roll a die, scan the QR code with an iPad, and solve the equation. Each of the dice are color coded for a specific addition/subtraction strategy (number line, ten frame, snap cube manipulatives). In my classroom, I print 6 of each dice and use these for a math center. Students solve the equation on a white board. These dice can also be used for a review of a specific strategy or students can pick a die at random and solve.
