Are you looking for a way to integrate technology into the research and writing process for your young students? QR codes are a quick, fun, engaging way for young students to gain information from videos, pictures, and writing.
One of the things I've noticed in other QR research projects is that the code often links to a website with lots of information and writing. This is wonderful for older students, but many of the little ones still can't read. This makes the research hard and frustrating. NOT THIS PACK!
This pack includes 5 different desert animal research projects (6 key questions for each animal) and a QR code for each question. The QR codes link to YouTube videos, QR voice answers spoken aloud, pictures, or simply written sentences that answers the question on the page. Your young students will be able to research the animals and find the answers in KID-FRIENDLY ways!
This 74 page pack includes:
-A list of all the Common Core 1st grade standards covered (RL, W, and SL)
-QR Code poster
-2 texts on the desert to build student's background knowledge
-Main idea/key detail organizers, ask/answer question organizers to go with the background knowledge texts
-6 desert animal research packs (camel, scorpion, desert coyote, desert tortoise, and rattlesnake) Each project has 6 questions, 6 recording pages with QR code to find the answer
-Informative writing organizer
-Writing pages for each of the 6 animals
-Suggestion page for apps to use to publish/create digital writing/presentation projects
-Rubrics for student research, student writing, and student presenting (2 rubrics for each category, one for students working in partners/groups and one for students working independently)
**You will need a device for students to scan these QR codes**
**This pack was designed with 1st grade Common Core standards. However, it could be adjusted and used for several grade levels**
Get students excited about research and writing by using these QR codes. Students will be able to take ownership over their learning and knowledge by being able to find the answers on their own. Kids will love finding out more about these desert animals and presenting their information.
