This packet features 160 writing prompts for 102 different books, as well as 14 writing prompts in the beginning of the packet that could be used with any book. The books in this packet are all different from the books in my Author Studies Writing Prompt Packet.
I have included versions for both American English and non-American English, in case you use "colour" and "favourite."
A QR code for the read aloud of each story is on each prompt. All of the QR codes for each story are also at the end of the packet, so you can print them out for a listening center or to make a QR code read aloud book with them. Each video has been scanned through ViewPure to remove any ads or distractions.
PLEASE try the QR codes in the sample packet to be sure you can access ViewPure videos. Thank you!
I love using writing prompts with my students. These prompts meet almost all of the CCSS in ELA. They provide great insight into students’ thinking and understanding after we read a book. They also provide excellent opportunities for authentic, purposeful writing.
I keep a copy of each writing prompt right inside of the corresponding book. That way, I always have access to a quick and meaningful activity for sub plans, an unexpected period of time I need to fill, or even for another teacher who may need an activity. These prompts are also great to have if you are a substitute teacher! Just make a class set of copies of an activity. Keep it right inside of the book that it goes with, and you won’t be caught off guard with extra time that hasn’t been well-planned when you are substituting!
Thank you for looking! I hope you find these as helpful as I do!
