Need a fun and engaging SELF CHECKING activity for your students to do during small groups? QR Codes! They are wonderful and kids LOVE them.
Never heard of QR codes? QR stands for QUICK RESPONSE. They are like barcodes and can be used with ipods, ipads, tablets, smart phones, and even laptops that have cameras. You can find a QR code scanner free in your app store. All your students have to do is work through the problems, grab a technology product mentioned above, scan the QR code.. and the answer pops right up!
In this activity you will find 20 cards asking students to count a group of money (dollar bill and mixed coins) under $2.00, write the answer using the dollar sign ($), and self-check by scanning the QR card. All coins include both front and back of the coin, coins included are: quarter, dime, nickel, penny. The dollar bill is also included.
I suggest laminated the cards for durability. I have included 20 color cards, 20 black and white (for your preference) as well as an answer key. The answer key also has a place where students can circle if they get the answer correct or incorrect which makes it easier to self-check!
I hope your class enjoys this activity as much as mine did!
Please provide feedback and let me know how this activity worked in your classroom!
