About This Resource:
This QR Code Scavenger Hunt activity is something I created as a cumulative review for my 8th grade math classes to prepare for our state-mandated test in Texas, STAAR. For my classes, it was called "The QR Rock STAAR Challenge," but I changed ‘STAAR’ to ‘Star’ so teachers in other states could use the resource without looking like terrible spellers. :)
For this activity, you just print off the cards, cut them out, and hang them around your classroom or campus. Give each student an answer sheet and let them loose to scan and solve. Because the QR codes contain short text files, kids do not need Internet access to read the questions. All they’ll need is a mobile device (phone, tablet, music player) with a QR reader. (There are many free QR code readers available for iOS and Android devices.) Kids who do not have mobile devices can easily team up with kids who do.
The 18 questions included in this resource. All the questions are available to view in the product preview. Instructions, ideas for implementing the activity, a key, and a student answer sheet are included with this download.
If you like the idea behind this activity, but these particular questions won’t work for you, there is a free tool at Classtools.net that will allow you to create your own resource.
- One copy of each QR card (You may want to laminate for durability)
- One answer sheet for each student
- Students with electronic devices (phones, tablets, etc.) that have QR readers installed
