The wedding of the letters Q and U is a very popular and exciting event in the early childhood classroom. The letters Q and U are joined together to make one sound and are always joined together in spelling. A fun and novel way to help students remember this sound and spelling rule is to have a symbolic wedding to join the letters in a union that cannot be broken.
This syllable sort lesson can be used as a supplemental activity with your QU Wedding unit. This activity will give students the opportunity to practice how many syllables are in a word. Students will sort wedding vocabulary words/pictures and/or QU words/pictures in two different cut and paste syllable sort activities.
