Product Description
This is a quadratic gravity modeling assignment where height is a function of time. Each context requires students to use graphing calculators to approximate maximum heights, starting heights, flight times, and other points of interest. Students will write quadratic models from different starting values including changing the lead coefficient (gravity acceleration coefficient) as the problems move from one planet to another, changing initial heights and initial velocities.

The goal of the assignment is to give students a sense of how changing coefficients effects the graphs of quadratic functions as well as how zeros, vertices and y-intercepts can be interpreted in the real world.

Students will need to learn to change the window function on their calculators to suit each context appropriately. Additionally, students will use the trace function and zoom function to identify points of interest and accurately approximate solutions to each example.

You will download a compressed zip file that contains a PDF document as well as a SMART file for those of you with interactive white boards.
