Quadratic Equations and Inequalities - Unit 7 Bundle- Texas Algebra 2 Curriculum

UNIT OVERVIEW:

This unit extends students' knowledge of solving quadratic equations. Students will solve quadratic equations with real and complex solutions using the following methods:

• Graphing and tables
• Factoring
• Square Roots
• Completing the Square
• Quadratic Formula (including analyzing the discriminant)

Students also will solve quadratic inequalities using algebraic methods and by graphing.

Finally, students will solve systems of equations consisting of one linear and one quadratic equation (linear-quadratic systems).

Students will:

• solve quadratic inequalities algebraically
• determine the solution interval by testing points

Lesson 6: Solving Quadratic Inequalities by Graphing

Students will:

• solve quadratic inequalities by graphing
• examine the graph of f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c to determine the solution interval

Lesson 7: Linear-Quadratic Systems

Students will:

• solve systems of equations consisting of one linear and one quadratic equation by graphing
• solve linear-quadratic systems of equations using substitution

EACH LESSON CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS:

• The Lesson Notes are designed for use as a note-taking guide combined with guided practice.
• Practice A and Practice B are suitable for use as in-class practice and homework. Two comparable forms are included for increased versatility.
• The Exit Ticket is designed for a quick concept check at the end of the class period.
