This activity presents a physics problem--a ball dropped from the top of a 10 foot ladder. The ball's position from the ground is represented by a simple quadratic equation. The worksheet has the students draw a diagram of what is happening, fill in a table of values, describe when the ball hits the ground, calculate average rate of change over different time intervals and calculate the average speed of the ball.

I have the students work in small groups to complete this activity.
