Students often struggle over creating expressions to solve from word problems. I have created this resource to help guide them and see the patterns in the various types of quadratic word problems that they can encounter.
In this activity, students will paste the correct equations to the quadratic word problems. An answer key is provided which makes this activity very student directed. This allows teachers to focus individually on the students.
Because the students get to choose their answer from a list of possible expressions they don't have to create equations from nothing. This can help them in the construction process. Also, many of the equations are similar which adds a level of introspection to the activity.
The cut & paste nature of this activity makes it a great break from a routine math classroom and also helps students who like to make something physical while they use their brains.
What is provided?
-grid with word problems (to be pasted onto)
-two sheets of possible expressions to be cut out
