Do you love to do small group math? I do too! I love for students to be actively engaged in an activity that keeps them learning. I created this sort to use while teaching my students during our geometry unit. When I introduced all the different quadrilaterals this was a perfect way to reinforce what they had learned. I have included many different labels for easy differentiation. This is an easy center or station to use during your small group rotations.
This set includes:
-24 quadrilateral/non-polygon cards
-8 sort labels (quadrilateral, not a quadrilateral, polygon, square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, and trapezoid)
-2 recording sheets (and an answer key!)
1- quadrilaterals vs not quadrilaterals
1- sorts quadrilaterals into specific categories (square, parallelogram, trapezoid,
rectangle, and rhombus)
Not much teacher prep needed; print, (I recommend cardstock so it lasts) laminate, and cut!
The students will have 2 categories (polygon/not a polygon) to sort the shape cards into. If you are using the recording sheet, the students will write the card number into the correct category.
You can use this as a center, independent work, partner work, or even in your own small group to check for understanding!
