Many students struggle with all the properties of quadrilaterals. It doesn’t help that so much symbolism needs to be instantly recognizable in this unit. The Kaboom! sticks below can help them make sense of the symbolism, recall the definitions/theorems, and can make learning more interactive.
This game is based on Jillian Starr’s Kaboom! centers game. Students in groups of four take turns pulling a stick from a cup and identifying the property/theorem/equation, or solving a problem. If they answer correctly, they keep the stick. If not, it goes back in the cup. If they draw a Kaboom! stick, all their sticks back in the cup. I staple the sleeves over the tongue depressors so they can be reused repeatedly.
An exit quiz over parallelograms and angles of polygons is included.
