This rubric is to help students understand what quality work looks like and it helps teachers have specifics to detail that work. The key is the last portion of the rubric when the effort must be at least equal to ability. Teachers need to learn the students and then use that to help get the best work from every child. Once the quality standard is set then grading the content can happen. Quality is now an expectation. If you ask a student to achieve at least a 3 in every category before you will grade it for content, after a week or two, it becomes the routine.
