This unit has been used in my Modern Physics class. This course is offered to Juniors and Seniors at my school, and Physics 1 is a pre-requisite. There will be no math used past Algebra 1 or 2. We teach on a block schedule, so the unit may need to be modified for pacing in a classroom that is not on block.
This is a 9 day unit, with content for 7 instructional days, 1 review packet (with key) and 2 test versions (with keys). Topics include historical models of the atom, with a focus on the Bohr model, the deBroglie wavelength, wave-particle duality, quantum interference, superposition, quantum uncertainty, and quantum tunneling. Included in the powerpoint presentations are engaging videos that have visuals that will help students see the physics.
Everything is here and ready for you to begin your study of quantum mechanics with your students. Your download will include 5 powerpoint presentations, 7 practice pages and/or note guides, a review packet (with key) and two tests (with keys). I am also including an extra credit opportunity, de Broglie notes, some fun cartoons, as well as the unit plan along with learning targets.
