Description
Combine the early history of the Kingdom of Kush and the later history of Ethiopia in this women's history bundle that explores all of the great kandakes and queens of this area.
During the Kingdom of Kush there were several women who ruled as kandakes but not a lot is known about them. The short reads are incredibly short but that doesn't matter. No one else includes these women in their curriculum but that doesn't mean they don't deserve some love and recognition.
Later in Ethiopian history, there were a few women that actually ruled the Kingdom of Ethiopia. They had to contend with the changing of a matrilineal succession to patrilineal, some religious tensions, and of course being a woman in a man's world.
Kandakes of Kush includes 12 pages of short reads and 3 summary questions.
Queens of Ethiopia includes 14 pages of short reads and 3 summary questions.
These are print and go resources or they could be used with TpT Easel.
Trauma Warning: Please read the preview for Queens of Ethiopia. There are two paragraphs for one of the queens that may not be appropriate for all students.
