Asking and Answering: Give each student an ASK AND DESCRIBE map to help them formulate questions. Show students the game cards, preview the words and give descriptions. Have students close their eyes while you insert one of the pictures into the slot in the top of the can. Have students take turns asking questions in order to guess which picture you've hidden in the can. Then allow students to hide pictures and you ask them questions and try to guess. This way students have opportunities to ask AND answer questions. When a player guesses correctly, he/she "wins" that picture card.
Describing: Give each student an ASK AND DESCRIBE map to help them formulate descriptions. Show students the game cards and preview the words with them. Have students take turns inserting a picture into the slot in the top of the can. Students give descriptions and allow the other students to guess which picture is in the can. The student who guesses correctly gets to hide the picture and give descriptions for the next round!
