Differentiation Cubes for Informational Text:
These cubes are designed to make differentiation look the same, but serve the purpose of asking different questions based on the Bloom’s Taxonomy (thinking levels). The cubes that include Knowledge and Understanding also prompt students to think at the higher level as this is what is required through the Common Core. They would be excellent as a guide for small group or with help from reading volunteers or teachers. These would also work well at centers differentiated for learners at different reading abilities. The cubes that primarily have Knowledge and Application question also have a couple of higher level thinking questions to prompt students to stretch beyond. Additionally, seeing these questions will also help during test taking when questions through PARCC and Smarter Balance are expected to be more rigorous.
