Description

Question words are difficult for English language learners. Trying to keep track of which question word will result in which type of answer can be confusing. Welcome to Question Land, a game for practicing question words. In this game students will ask and answer questions in order to move along the game board, trying to be the first to reach the finish line.

Supplies not included in this download: a number cube for each group, place markers for each student

To prep the game: gather the needed supplies, print and laminate the game board (one for every group of 2-4 students)

Directions for play:

1. The first player will roll the number cube and check the key to see what question word he/she will use.

2. Player one will then form a question using the assigned word and ask it aloud.

3. If the question is grammatically correct, he/she proceeds to the next space with the assigned question word on it. If the question is not grammatically correct, he/she does not move.

4. Player two then answers player one’s question, rolls the number cube, and asks a question of his/her own.

5. Player three then answers player two’s question, rolls the number cube, and asks a question of his/her own.

6. Play continues in this manner until someone reaches finish by rolling and asking a question using a word that has no spaces remaining between the one the player is on and finish.
