Included in this document are 12 cards containing problems and answers. All problems given are adding or subtracting polynomials, including using the distributive property. Students must simplify each problem, one at a time, then find the solution on the BACK of another card. Then they flip the card over and work out the next problem. Students should finish where they started. You are basically tricking them into doing a worksheet! There is also a recording sheet and an answer key.
This activity corresponds to Texas Algebra 1 TEKs:
-A.10A: add and subtract polynomials of degree one and degree two (Supporting Standard)
-A.10D: rewrite polynomial expressions of degree one and degree two in equivalent forms using the distributive property (Supporting Standard)
This can be completed individually or in pairs, as a test review, homework assignment, classwork activity, or station.
My students love these activities, because they can check themselves as they go, and work at their own pace.
