Thank you for choosing my product today. It is a group of questions for educators that can be used several ways including:
a. modeling and practicing the use of question stems
b. a formative assessment such as ticket out the door
c. give each participant one question (I printed the slides so there would be lines on the side for written response), ask them to share with a partner, ask for volunteers to share with whole group (think/pair/share)
d. once completed, make a poster with the responses so teachers can get a snapshot of their faculty or use as an example as a gallery walk for teachers
e. use the data to differentiate your professional development at school
Whenever I present to teachers, I try to model how to use different strategies in the classroom. As a closing/review, we chart what they observed. I have asked participants to complete a thinking map of what they observed. Sometimes even seasoned veterans don’t know the lingo, or need a boost of new ideas and energy.
In order to get the most out of the time we have together, we focus on content, but present it in a format where the teachers can see and experience different instructional strategies. I usually get a lot of requests for classroom visits and coaching afterward.
I try to stay away from “sit and get” and instead teach the way we want our teachers to teach our students. Good luck!
