A great way to get students thinking about problems relating to finding the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and the Least Common Multiple (LCM). There are two different questions provided. The first relates to how many snack bags can be created using a set number of ingredients (GCF). The other question involves cicadas and when two different species will appear at the same time (LCM).
Works well as a warm up to introduce the concepts. Otherwise, can be used as an interactive class/group activity to discuss different ways of proving a statement. These sheets will help your students organize their work/thinking and share with their peers.
