There are 90 who/what/where/when/why and how questions to use for every day of the semester. They were made to engage the higher level thinking skills of students. There is no right or wrong answer and it should be an expectation of students to respect the answers of others. The students can also piggyback on what other students have said or choose not to answer.
These were made for a pocket chart to post throughout the day or week. You can introduce them at the beginning of the day and have the students answer before lunch or before a break. You can also use them as you're waiting in line to leave or when there's those few minutes of down time that you need to fill. It's also a great tool to put in your newsletter to help parents engage conversations with their children at home. These are also perfect for speech and language pathologists!
Here are a few of my favorite questions:
What would happen if the world had no trees?
If your pet could talk, what do you think it would say to you?
Where would you go if you could go on vacation tomorrow?
When do you say, "thank you?"
How can you make a sad friend happy?
