Teacher begins by leading students through a review of a list of basic personal questions (name, age, origin, preferences, etc). Students record both how to ask and respond to these questions on a reference sheet.
The teacher then plays music as a cue for all students to stand up and move around the room. When the music stops, the teacher displays an image & category that corresponds to their reference sheet. Students must partner up and both ask and respond to this question. The teacher resumes the music and students move again until it stops.
Once the class has practiced all questions, students form groups of four ask and respond to the personal questions as shown on the Powerpoint.
I had great success with this activity! Students enjoy mixing with their classmates as well as speaking French. As they become more comfortable, the teacher could encourage students to leave their reference sheets at their desks.
