Questions for reflection to help students generate ideas for their short story.
Most students begin brainstorming their short story ideas by thinking about the plot.
However, this can be quite difficult. Sometimes it is helpful to consider some of the other features of a narrative when generating ideas. This table lists a number of reflective questions around characters, theme, setting and genre.
You might have students answer some of these questions in their workbooks before drafting their short story or just go through them with the class to prompt their ideas.
