Product Description
Qui suis-je?-été is an oral language game to help students practice asking questions in French. This product contains 24 different summer vocabulary words. There are 6 action words, 8 nouns, 4 summer food items, and 6 different summer travel locations. To play, each student begins by selecting one of the larger selection cards. Students then take turns asking questions to help them try and guess their opponent’s mystery card. For example, if player #1 asks, “Are you a place?” and their opponent replies “yes”, then player #1 can knock down all the windows that do not have a picture of a place on it. However, if their opponent replies, “No”, then player #1 knocks down all the pictures of places now knowing they cannot be their opponent’s mystery card. Student’s continue knocking down the windows, depending on their opponent’s answers, until there is only one card remaining.

*action words: faire du camping, faire cuire le barbecue, jouer, creuser, bâtir, voyager

*nouns : un bateau, un cerf-volant, un ballon de plage, des sandales, le soleil, une tente, un poisson, une baleine

*food : un melon d’eau, un hambuger, un cornet de crème glacée, de la pizza

*places: une plage, l’océan, une piscine, un parc, un lac, la campagne

There are many ways you can expand the use of this resource by using the larger selection cards. Here are just a few ideas:
Oral Language Games (Headbanz): Continue the theme of Oral Language practice by using the larger selection cards to play Headbanz. Students select a card, without looking at it, and hold it up to their forehead (or use the actual headbands from the Headbanz game). You can play one of two ways. Either the student can ask as many yes or no questions as they can to try and figure out what the card is, or friends can provide helpful hints. Once students become more proficient with asking questions you can also add in an hourglass sand timer to the mix.
Go Fish & Memory: Print out the larger selection cards two times and have students play games like Go Fish or Memory to help encourage speaking in French and using the vocabulary in full sentences.
Word Wall Cards: Use the laminated cards as a mini thematic word wall. You can add them to your current word wall; or hole punch them and add to a key ring so students can use the words at their table, or even place them into a pocket chart for easy access.
Writing Center: Add these words to your writing center and encourage students to create lists, label pictures, and create simple sentences.
Daily 5: Add the larger selection cards to your word work center
*build the words using magnetic letters or scrabble letters
*have students stamp the words, rainbow write the words, or cut out the letters from magazines and newspapers.
