Halloween therapy is my FAVORITE, and for kids, Halloween is all about the costumes and the TREATS! This easy to prep game (as are all of my quick drill games) will get your students excited about skill drill, give them lots of practice, and make them forget they're working even though they are!
It's simple but addictive and designed for your short articulation or fluency sessions (5-10 minutes) although it can also be used for longer sessions, too. I use it in 30 minute sessions, in fact! It can be used to make ANY skill drill fun (math facts, sight words, artic drill, answering questions, and so on).
Just set a timer and begin drill. After your student performs your skill drill to your liking (3 times, 5 times, etc) allow him/her to pick a card. If it’s a "Give me all the treats" CARD he/she gets to keep it. If it’s one of the wild cards, follow the directions on the card. When the timer rings, the child with the most "treat" cards wins!
As an alternate way to play (that incorporates spontaneous connected speech), challenge students to describe the card they picked while using their best speech or just say "Give me all the treats" each time they pick a card. That phrase alone elicits the phonemes /g/, /v/, /m/, /l/, th, /tr/ and /ts/.
* 25 colorful treat cards and 5 wild cards that shake up the game
* Halloween themed target words for drill - sorted by phoneme
Just print, cut, & play (laminate for durability). No wasted paper
