Do you need a great bellringer and exit slip for a unit on the kitchen? Or maybe you need a fun stand alone unit that will only take a day or less?
In this short lesson students will watch a 60 second documentary on youtube about Tom Brown, a performance artist who has created a tiny kitchen that he uses to cook complete strangers miniature food. Although he gives the food away for free, he finds that he is the one who is given a gift.
Students will work with some key vocabulary, have an opportunity to practice speaking to a partner, and respond to some short writing prompts. If you do the main activities this will take approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on the level of the students and your teaching style. If you use any of the SIX suggested extension activities it becomes the foundation of a unit that can last several days!
Vocabulary emphasized: miniature, edible, shrunk, utensils, functional, portable, performance, and some kitchen utensils (ice-cream scoop, tortilla press, tongs, etc.)
1 page lesson plan (pdf)
2 options to print the activity (either as 4x6 cards to laminate or as a 1 page worksheet, pdf)
2 options to project the answer key (Keynote and Powerpoint)
