This double-sided chart summarizes the four most common types of English phrases (plus dependent clauses) in terms of their structure and the "roles" they can play in a sentence (adjectival, adverbial, nominal). Simple design and brief, clear examples make this a valuable supplement to lessons on participial phrases, gerund phrases , infinitive phrases , prepositional phrases, and dependent clauses. Reverse side adds a summary of the questions that adjectives and adverbs answer, plus some clarifying notes on the uses of nominals. Everything is editable.
