“Quick Guide to Special Education and Related Services”
This is a quick guide that explains the process of special education. I put these pages, procedural safeguards, and eligibility paperwork from the Department of Education in a portfolio.

Eligibility/IEP Meeting Agenda- A flowchart that describes items to be discussed at a Special Education Eligibility Meeting that transitions into an IEP meeting.
Special Education Flowchart - A flowchart that describes the process and timelines for eligibility to receive special education and related services.
Domains (Illinois State Board of Education) - There are eight different areas that schools are required to consider when suspecting a disability. This form is completed at "Domain Meetings.” Also attached is guidance from ISBE on what information should be included.
Test Scores - These pages briefly describe the bell curve, standard deviations, standard scores, percentile ranks, grade equivalents, scaled scores, and stanines.
Areas of Eligibility - The 13 areas of special education eligibility categories and criteria are described.
Eligibility Determination Flowchart and Criteria - This page describes the factors that the team must determine if the student is eligible for special education services under the IDEA.
Definition of Individualized Education Program (IEP) - The page describes the main components of an IEP.
Present Level of Performance - The page describes what information should be included in the Preset Levels of Performance. These Present Levels of Performance guides goals.
Goals and Objectives - These pages provide ISBE criteria for goals. Additionally, there is a quick reference of the "Best Practices" of goal writing.
Functional Behavioral Assessment - This page is a quick reference of information included in a Functional Behavioral Assessment.
Behavior Intervention Plan - These pages provide guidance from ISBE on what should be included in a Behavioral Intervention Plan.
Autism Considerations - These considerations must be completed when a student is found eligible under the category of Autism to ensure that all of the student's needs are met. The pages also provide ISBE guidance on what information should be considered.
