Read the quote. Write what you think it means. This package comes with an introduction and ten stand alone worksheets that are great for any teacher who want their students to practice reading and understanding complex ideas. These are great standalone worksheets for substitutes.
Hopefully they inspire students to think and come up with new and novel ideas. There are ten quotes that are included. They range in difficulty levels, so that you may adapt it to what you think your students can comprehend.

Examples of Quotes -
“You don’t need to have extraordinary effort to achieve extraordinary results. You just need to do the ordinary, everyday things exceptionally well.”
“Life is like a snowball. The important thing is finding wet snow and a really long hill.”
This activity is great for individual comprehension or group work. To guide your students, instruct them to:
1. Read the quote
2. Try to understand what the person is trying to say
3. Write down what you think the meaning is or why it's important
*Extended method for further learning*
-Consider having students do it in groups. They may discuss among themselves before they write their paragraphs and their own thoughts down.
-After everyone has written and completed their worksheet, have volunteers share the quote they were given and explain how they interpreted it.
