Perfect creative writing booster for any classroom.
Imagination. I bring imagination into my class as much as possible. It's so important to present lesson to the kids we teach in a manner that they can connect to. I have many "Quick Think" lessons that I use to encourage the use of creativity. This lesson is about caption writing and uses funny pictures to pull out original and imaginative thought from the students. The lesson teaches about picture captions, presents a few humorous examples, then allows the students the opportunity to create their own captions for some funny animal pictures. The students start to think analyze their thoughts and words on a whole different level which then can be applied to captions for text articles and even go into technology education by having students find their own funny picture then add their own caption via word document or picture editing software (create a class slideshow and allow the students to share their captions with each others). This could then be pointed toward historical/non-fiction thinking having students create more serious captions for historical pictures.
