Product Description
This packet is to be used as the third set of Quick Writes completed in your classroom during the month of October. Quick Writes are just that, a writing formative that takes less than 8 minutes from beginning to end on the part of the child, and only a few minutes per page on yours. It is an informative way to see if the student is able to transfer the writing skills you are teaching either as a whole class, writing conferences, and/or in mini lessons. Each week, I give the students one or two prompts for them to write from. I look for correct basic conventions but also check to see that they are able to transfer the concept(s) we have been covering in class in their writing. The students are given a prompt (question, story starter, picture, quote, etc.). Depending upon how you want to check their work, you could either have the students check each other’s work, collect their packets to check on your own time, or pull individuals that need immediate reflection. Quick Writes gives not only you, but also the students, a way to monitor their growth throughout the year. As a teacher, you also have invaluable data for conferences, report cards, and lesson planning. Included is an all-inclusive recording sheet for all the skills. The entire years Quick Writes can be found at my store. Thank you so much for your purchase.
