This is a great way to review the basics around improper fractions and mixed numbers. Students will have to know what makes a fraction improper, how to covert an improper fraction to a mixed number, and how to compare mixed numbers with the same whole number. I recommend that you use a 10-sided die if possible for a greater variety of fractions. I let my students use mini-whiteboards to record their information and do the calculations.
Print an instruction sheet for each pair of students and get rolling!
