I am currently teaching science and social studies this year and was in need of a daily review activity that would take no more than 5-10 minutes. Using the Tennessee Through Time The Later Years textbook and Tennessee standards for science I created 3 questions each day to review what was taught the week before. One of my goals this year was to have students create goals every Monday and reflect on them come Friday. On a family trip to Pennsylvania I saw a sign that talked about Ben Franklin setting goals and the question that he asked himself daily so that is where the Monday and Friday questions come from.
These two weeks worth of questions ask about the Antebellum period and the beginning of the Civil War. The science questions relate to cells, organism interactions in environments and the impact of natural disasters on the environment. Using daily spiral review can be a great way to keep the students remembering concepts throughout the year.
