I have been teaching children in Sunday School, VBS, Christian School and more for over 10 years. I have discovered that kids from Christian homes often do not have a good understanding of the gospel. Children need to know not just bible stories, but how much God loves them, what He did for them, and that he is calling them to love others they way he loves them.
This quiet time booklet was created to help young children develop their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (I would recommend for 1st-6th grade.) Each week focuses on one memory verse. (Visuals are included for the memory verses.) There are 4 days of reflective questions for each week. Verses focus mainly on God's love, loving others, the gospel, and how to follow Jesus. Should take between 5-10 minutes per day.
Each day includes:
1. What are you thankful for?
2. Reflective questions about the bible verse.
3. A prayer suggestion.
4. A section for prayer requests is included at the beginning of the booklet.
Younger children will need help reading, but the writing lines will work for all ages. I have really enjoyed discussing the questions with my class because they get into the nitty gritty of life as a kid, and helps them to take a more honest look at where they are, and where they need to be. The verses in this booklet include:
Numbers 14:18 The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving our sins.
But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do no lean on your own understanding.
I John 5:21 Dear children keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let love be genuine. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
