This lesson is a fun way for students to learn about their teacher, peers and maybe even someone at home. I have used it with 3rd through 8th graders. It has always been a good way to start the first week of school or the first day of a new class in middle school. I don't always use the full lesson included. I usually use the in class part & tailor it to the time I have available.
For me it's helped students open up in class and get to know each other. I believe it's an activity that helps foster the building blocks to a strong classroom community.
1. Students take quiz about their teacher
2. Score the test together & share stories about yourself
3. Students create their own quiz to share or have a partner take
4. Optional: Students take their quiz home to have someone there
take it & possibly create their own too!
*I included my quiz, but you'll need to create a personalized version about yourself. You can get ideas from mine, make it shorter or longer, and even decide to make it multiple-choice if you want. Be creative and just focus on the purpose of sharing a few things about yourself in a fun way & getting your students to participate in getting to know you discussions about their peers.
