This one page assessment can be used as a quiz or even a take home test to check students comprehension of the difference between when to use these two forms of the past tense in French.
It contains two sections. The first is a fill in the blank with verbs provided that the student has to determine whether to use the passé composé or the imparfait, and then to conjugate the verb correctly. The second section asks the learner to write a couple of sentences using BOTH verb tenses.
All instructions are provided in the target langage only, and an answer key, including possible answers for the second, open ended section, is included.
(Note: this DOES include an instance or two of requiring agreement with a preceeding direct object for the passé composé, but if you aren't testing that, you could always ignore that when marking or correcting the quiz.)
