In this twenty-two-page document, ,strong.you will find a student-reference sheet for using quotation marks in dialogue and for using quotation marks in direct quotations along with information on brackets and the ellipsis. In addition, I have included practice exercises all with an answer key and a follow-up assessment with an answer key, which is really easy to grade.
Are you tired of correcting basic punctuation mistakes? Wouldn’t you rather concentrate on content when you conference with a student? Use this mini-unit to help your students move beyond those “pesky” mistakes. Some of your high school students already will have mastered this material, but I find that it is the type of skill that I need to review often. I think that they will find the reference sheet a valuable resource.
