Product Description
The latest project by "One SLP in a Pod" includes speech therapy game boards for "R-Blends, S-Blends and L-Blends", as well as data sheets and vocabulary cards. The game boards each have 40 different pictures that start with the target blends. There are data sheets following each game board to keep track of students' productions. There are also vocabulary cards that can be used to pre-teach and review. The vocabulary cards can be duplicated so that students can play games, such as matching games and go-fish.
The game boards, cards and 6 colored game pieces should be laminated for durability.
A die that has the numbers "1, 2 and 3" is recommended for use with the game board, so that the game doesn't go too quickly! Students take turns rolling the die then moving that number of spaces. Students can then name the picture, say it X number of times, or say the word in a phrase or sentence.
The vocabulary cards can be used numerous ways. l made two copies of the cards and laminated them. Then I took one copy and put paper clips at the top of the cards, then put them face-up on the table. I gave each student a magnet wand. I then took the other copies of the cards and put them face-down in front of me. I turned over the first card, didn't show it to the students, and began describing it, using functions and attributes. The first person to pick up the described card with their magnet wand wins the card!
This activity targets increasing vocabulary, articulation practice for blends, describing, listening skills, understanding attributes and functions and following directions.
