In this adorable word sort, each dinosaur has a word written with a different r-controlled vowel sound (/ar/,/er/, and /or/) and it's corresponding spelling (ar, er, ir, ur, or, ore). After reading the word, students will then send each dinosaur back to their volcano home by sorting the sound/spelling.
This activity is great for students who get confused between the different r-controlled vowel sound and spellings. It is also very cute, fun, and enjoyable.
This activity can be done individually, in literacy work stations, centers, small group, or guided reading.
