This download is for r-controlled a (words with -ar) themed literacy centers.

Phonics Sort - Students will sort word-picture cards by if they contain an r-controlled a or a short a. They will then record their work.

Search/Read/Write the Room - Students will search the room for -ar picture-word cards. They will record their findings on a recording sheet under appropriate columns.

Roll and Write a Word - Students will roll a word and then record it on a recording sheet. They will continue to roll until one word has "won." They will then analyze their data.

Aargh! Magnify Tiny -ar Words Search - Students will use a magnifying glass to find tiny words with -ar. They will then record their work next to the picture of the word on their recording sheet.

Writing Center - Students will create their own "My Little Book of Words with -ar."

Rhymes - Students will decide if the picture/words on the card rhyme or do not rhyme. They will record and illustrate their work.

-ar Themed Build a Sentence - Students will arrange picture cards in the right order to tell a complete sentence. They will record their sentences.

-ar Themed Build a Word - Students will build words using picture cards containing a beginning sound and an ending sound chunk. They will then record and illustrate their words.

Spin a Word - Students will spin a beginning sound and an ending sound to build a word ending in -art and -at. They will then record their work. Nonsense words will also be recorded under a nonsense word section.
