I made these activities for my students to practice decoding and reading words (1 and 2 syllable) and identifying if it contains an AR, OR, ER, IR or UR r-controlled syllable. The first sheet is all 1-syllable words, and the 2nd is 2-syllable words. These worksheets can be used for practice, an assessment tool, homework, or a center. The students have to circle the r-controlled vowel in each word, then cut and sort/glue the words into the correct category. These worksheets can go along with any spelling program. It would be ideal for 1st and 2nd grade students, however it would also help struggling students in 3rd grade or to serve as a review at the start of 3rd grade. Also check out my R-Controlled Vowels Sort for AR, OR and ER as well as ER, IR and UR, Vowel Teams sorts, short/long vowels sorts, as well as all of my word searches. ENJOY!
