More details on the games:
SCOOP! R-Controlled Vowels is a two - four player card game. It's a race to see who can read the most r-controlled vowel words before the other player gets the SCOOP!
This two player game has 104 r-controlled vowel cards and 8 SCOOP! cards. Players take turns choosing cards and reading the words. Watch out, though - if a player uncovers a SCOOP! card, s/he takes ALL of the other players' cards.
Other versions of SCOOP! are available here.
Also in the package is R-Controlled Vowels Dice Roll, a fun way to practice reading 106 different r-controlled vowel words!
After sorting the cards from a set into piles based on how many dots are on the die on the card, students are ready to play. Player 1 rolls a die. Whatever number s/he rolls is the pile to choose a card from. After selecting the card, Player 1 reads it aloud. If it is read correctly, s/he gets to keep it. If not, it goes at the bottom of the pile. Player 2 repeats the process. If a player rolls a number that has no cards left, s/he loses the turn. The game is over when all cards have been chosen. The winner is the person with the most cards. If playing with all 106 words, you may want to determine the winner at the end of 10 minutes of play.
In addition to the words, there are 8 special cards, which can be included during play or not, depending on the needs of your students. There are 3 cards that ask you to take another card, 3 cards that tell you to take a card from another player, and 2 cards that end the game.
This game is ink friendly. All cards and graphics on them are in black and white. You can choose to print the cards on white paper, or for extra oomph, print on colored paper.
There are several options when using this set. You could play with all 106 words, use only a particular vowel or vowels, or make the pile of words smaller. Additionally, you could put the words on rings for flashcard practice sets.
The words are not all the same in both games.
