These bossy r sentence scramble worksheets are designed for first grade and second grade. These 40 sentence building printables are SOR aligned and ideal for phonics lessons, literacy centers or morning work.

Students simply cut, sort, and paste the words into a sentence, write the sentence, and color the picture.

The following r controlled vowels and words feature:

ar – barn, art, arms, bark, harp, car, jar, yarn, cart

er – water, hammer, under, flowers, anger, baker, whispers, spider, dinner

ir – stir, dirt, circle, bird, chirp, shirt, girl, skirt, squirt

or – storm, shorts, corn, for, horn, torn, cork, cord, fork

ur – curl, nurse, hurt, surfs, burn, turtle, purse, turn

More than one r controlled vowel - corner, Harper, Parker

There are some high frequency words and sight words in this resource:

I, a, is, it, in, to, on, my, so, of, he, she, and, can, the, lots, like, will, his, her, this, has, are, have, them (most of which are easily decodable).

Other than that, these sentences are completely decodable with r controlled vowels and then some CVC words such as:

red, dog, cat, mix, dig, big, not

There are a few digraphs, blends, and CVCe words too such as:

much, cross, black, lost, drive, hose, hide, smile, wave, time
