This PowerPoint introduces/reviews the sounds of ir, er, and ur. Introduction slides goes over what r-controlled words are and the sounds that are made. The first set of slides goes over the sound of er. A picture appears and the students must guess the name of the picture using the /er/ sound. The students must also spell in the word and identify if the r-controlled sound is in the beginning, middle, or end of the word. The next set of slides focuses on the /ur/ sound. The last set focuses on /ir/ where you discuss that this sound is almost always at the end of the word. There is brief wrap up activity at the end.
