This can be used to look in depth at /r/ in different contexts. It looks at prevocalic /r/ followed by each of the vowels, all of the /r/ blends at the initial position of words, and all of the vocalic /r/s in the initial, medial, and final position of words. This gives a really great picture of where your student is at, and if there are any contexts that are more successful for this very difficult sound. I give each of my students this short test at the beginning of each year, and at their IEP.
