There are 5 "glittered" ponds and 50 "glittered" ducks. On each pond there is the r-controlled vowel. On each duck there is a r-controlled picture. Students must match the duck to the correct pond. There are 10 ducks for each pond. However, I split this activity into 2 different literacy stations for two different times. I only placed 5 ducks for each pond at a time. This was a good review of r-controlled pictures/words.
An answer key and a student answer sheet is provided. This activity is brought to you by "PRECIOUS ITEMS."
My students enjoy activities and it helps me to identify students that still have difficulty with a skill taught. Students complete activity and then write the answers in their literacy journals. This just holds them accountable for the activity. If you want to present the activity as a whole group you can place magnetic dots on the back of each pond and duck if you have access to a magnetic board. I usually present the activity first as a whole group. However, I used this activity just for literacy stations. As a challenge, depending on your grade level, you can have students write the words in ABC order.
