* RACE Posters
* RACE Bookmarks
Ready, set, RACE! This resource is what you need to help implement the RACE strategy, especially when introducing students to using text evidence with constructed responses for the first time. These posters and bookmarks are something you can print and use in your classroom the next day!
I created this resource with highlighters in mind. When introducing RACE, I have my students highlight each portion of their answer that shows each RACE component. For example, they highlight restating the question in green, the answer in pink, their text evidence in yellow, and their explanation in green. This helps them see that they included everything needed for a well rounded response.
Use these posters to implement the RACE strategy for students answering to short response questions. At the beginning of the year you can display the detailed posters, which include example sentence starters for each portion. Then as your students become more comfortable with the RACE strategy, you can move on to the simplified posters that state what each letter represents.
Two format options for posters: full page with examples and half page - both available in color or black & white.
On one side is a breakdown of each component of RACE. On the other side are sentence frames for citing evidence (including favorites: according to the text, based on what I read, etc.), as well as sentence frames for explaining how the evidence ties back to their answers.
Two printing options for bookmarks: slim and extra room - both available in color or black & white.
If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know!
I hope you enjoy using this resource in your own classroom!
