Part of the Common Core requires that students answer text dependent questions by citing evidence from the text and explaining their evidence. For most of our students, this is a new concept that they must become accustomed to. That's why I created this poster to help my own students with the transition. I hope in posting them here you can make use of them as well!
This download includes 3 versions of the RACE poster that reminds students what to include in their written responses.
The Acronym RACE stand for the following:
R-estate the question
A-nswer the question and all its parts
C-ite evidence from the text
E-xplain the evidence
*1 colored version of the poster
*1 black & white version
*1 half a sheet version that students can glue into their Reading notebooks/ journals.
