The RACER strategy is designed to help students answer more complex, thoughtful questions. This strategy is specifically helpful for constructed response questions that require students to explain or describe. Students' answers are usually 6-8 sentences (a paragraph) long when using this response. Before writing a response, students are encouraged to write the acronym (RACER) along the side of their paper as a reminder as to how they should answer the question.
This product is intended as an introduction to the strategy, but many of the organizers and handouts can be used throughout the school to reinforce the RACER strategy.
